Description of All Courses

Introduction to the Nuclear Industry for Suppliers

Provides an overview of the nuclear industry for suppliers of items and services. Covers nuclear market structure, codes and standards, quality programs, procurement, business plans, and market development. 

Intended for new or existing businesses looking to enter the nuclear industry. No previous knowledge of the nuclear industry is required.

Currently, one option for delivery: Live virtual, 1/2 - day (4 hours total).

Introduction to Nuclear Quality Programs

Introduces participants to nuclear quality assurance programs and management systems. Provides a high-level overview of ISO 9001, ISO 19443, CSA N285 (as related to quality programs), CSA N286, CSA N299, and ASME NQA-1. 

Intended for individuals or businesses looking for a focused overview of nuclear quality programs and what is different from non-nuclear quality programs. No previous knowledge of the nuclear industry is required.

Currently, one option for delivery: Live virtual and In-person options, 1-day (8 hours total).

Introduction to Nuclear Procurement

Provides an overview of nuclear procurement practices, nuclear customer expectations of suppliers, and how to become a qualified vendor to nuclear customers. 

Intended for businesses looking for a focused overview of nuclear procurement, to understanding what is invoked to become a qualified vendor, and what is different from non-nuclear industry procurement. No previous knowledge of the nuclear industry is required. 

Currently, one option for delivery: Live virtual and In-person options, 1-day (8 hours total).

Introduction to Nuclear Technical Codes and Standards

Introduces participants to nuclear and non-nuclear technical codes and standards, regulatory and industry expectations, authorities having jurisdiction, enforcement, and successful implementation. 

Intended for individuals or organizations seeking to understand how to navigate codes and standards as they apply to the nuclear industry. No previous knowleged of the nuclear industry is required.

Quality Programs and Management Systems

This advanced 3-day course builds on the foundation of one of PNC’s courses: 

  1. Introduction to Nuclear Quality

This course covers the following topics: 

  • Quality programs and Management Systems
  • IAEA, and CNSC quality program frameworks
  • Quality Standards: ISO 9001, ISO 19443, CSA N285 (as it relates to quality programs), CSA N286, CSA N299, and ASME NQA-1
  • Regulatory and industry expectations 
  • Auditing, audits and vendor qualifications
  • Several case studies are used to illustrate how to pragmatically develop and implement quality programs in the nuclear industry.

Previous experience working with a quality program or attending PNC’s course Introduction to Nuclear Quality is recommended prior to taking this course.

Intended for individuals or organizations looking for a detailed understanding of nuclear quality programs and how they are implemented.

Nuclear Engineering

This advanced 3-day course builds on the foundation of two of PNC’s courses: 

  1. Introduction to Codes and Standards
  2. Introduction to Nuclear Quality

This course covers the following topics: 

  • Design and analysis
  • Software and simulations
  • Engineering
  • Nuclear codes and standards
  • Regulatory requirements and expectations
  • Engineering Program development and implementation
  • Engineering change control processes
    • Several case studies are used to illustrate how to pragmatically develop and implement engineering programs and design change control processes

Intended for individuals or organizations looking for a detailed understanding of nuclear engineering practices and processes.
